Overview of Philippine Market:
The Philippines is located in the tropical region of southeast Asia, with abundant sunshine and rain fall. Agriculture and animal husbandry are important part of the Philippine national economy. About 48% of the country's labor force is engaged in agricultural production. The population of the Philippines has increased at high speed, reaching 118 million at the middle of 2017. Livestock and poultry are the most important components of agricultural production, accounting for about 76% of total agricultural output. From the 1990s, supported by the rapid development of pig and poultry industry, The Philippine animal husbandry industry obtained dramatic development.
Philippines has also adopted a strategy of prioritizing the livestock and poultry industry, promoting breed improvement of dairy, beef cattle and small ruminants, investing in pre-natal and post-natal equipment and infrastructure and supporting research and development in related biotechnology. According to the Philippine Department of Agriculture, the value of animal husbandry in the Philippines reached 697 billion pesos in 2015, accounting for 36.86% of the total agricultural output, while poultry accounted for 46.33% of the total agricultural output. With the rapid growth of domestic population, changes in consumption preferences and the development of import liberalization, the demand for livestock and poultry products in the Philippines has increased greatly since the 1990s, which directly promoted the rise of commercial livestock and poultry farming in the Philippines, especially the rapid development of pig and chicken industry. The Philippines mainly relies on imports for its consumption, but at the same time, some dealers import raw materials and export them after processing. In recent years, the Philippine government has adopted active supporting policies to develop the livestock and poultry industry and dairy industry, and the investment scale has been increasing year by year, which has a very good market potential.
