About Tanzania:
Tanzania, one of the largest trade markets in Africa, gathers importers and traders from neighboring countries. Chinese companies are now welcomed by local government to invest and do business in this country. The government has worked to improve the investment climate, including redesigning the tax law, floating the exchange rate, granting licences to foreign Banks and allowing foreign companie to repatriate their profits freely. Tanzania enjoys good relations with neighboring countries and is actively creating a free trade zone covering 26 African countries with stable political environment. The cost of investment in Tanzania is relatively low, which is an advantage to invest for Chinese companies.
Tanzania’s economy is heavily dependent on agriculture, which employs 75% of the country’s population. According to the recently released African Growth Report 2014, Tanzania’s agricultural GDP increased by 3.4% in 2011. In 2013, 1,049 new agricultural jobs were created and agricultural investment reached 9.7 million US Dollars. Tanzania’s mineral resources and largely untapped tourism sector could make it a viable market for foreign investment.
