The backwardness of public facilities in Cambodia, especially in water treatment, has constrained the development of the city .. With the increasing demand for water supply and sewerage systems in Cambodia, the solution of domestic water supply and wastewater treatment problems has become urgent in recent years. The Cambodian government has invested heavily in the construction of dams, drainage areas and pipelines in order to significantly improve water quality and make it more convenient for urban and rural use. The expansion of major cities and the acceleration of construction have contributed to the demand for efficient and high quality water supply. In addition, industrial water pollution has attracted the attention of the authorities and issued strict regulations on industrial wastewater treatment. By 2015, the Government of Cambodia will ensure that 80 per cent of the city's water supply is increased and that it will need to spend $ 30 million annually to meet this target.
